In keeping with the vision and mission of the Institute, the Library has been established to respond effectively, where possible to the knowledge/information needs of the Institutes client systems.
Housed in a ventilated and air conditioned area with sufficient stacking area, centrally located and functionally designed building with a seating capacity of 100 readers.
It is fast growing collection includes an up-to-date and well balanced collection of over 18000 selected document including 7000 bound periodicals in the field of Textile science.
Besides currently subscribing to over 46 journals, The Library also stocks a collection of reports and dessertation in the field of Textile.
As the collection is of various sizes and formats, most of them are directly accessible to the users, while some (rare, report type etc.) are preserved in closed stacks and made available on request. The books are classified by DDC scheme AACRZ is followed for cataloging.
Open round-the-clock all days of week excluding Sundays and gazetted holidays during the academic Session (July- March) for reading purposes the library remains open for its full range of services during 0900 hrs to 17.30 hrs. During the vocation period (April- June). The library in open from 0900 hrs to 1730 hrs. Timing is, however further extended as and when such need arises.
Member from the Institute Community are granted Membership and the users from business/ industrial and government set ups as well as from the academics are provided with information and materials.
PAC for the Library's entire book/report collection is available. It has provided a much needed relief to the Library users in accessing retrieving and using the learning I authors editors, II Title/Subject heading.
Based on requisition xerox copies of the Library document are made available mainly for academic purpose.
On demand bibliographic and other documentation services on subjects of interest are provided.
Library Automation:Computerised Library management Solution is proposed to install in the library along with advanced security systems and bar coding. A book bank scheme is also proposed to make all the required books available to the students on rental basis.
