Uttar Pradesh Textile Technology Institute (UPTTI) Formerly Known as Goverment Central Textile Institute (GCTI)

Advanced Research Lab

The institute has an Advanced Research Lab popularly known as IIC (Innovation and Incubation Centre) lab, as the lab owes its genesis to the IIC project started in the Institute with University funding. Later majority of the testing devices installed here, were procured under TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) - III of the Institue. The lab has now grown to be a state of the art unit with all modern equipment for characterization, thermal behaviour studies and evaluation of comfort properties of textiles. The various devices housed in this lab are -

  • DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry)
  • TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis)
  • SEM (Scanning Electron Micrograph)
  • XRD (X-ray Diffraction)
  • MPAES (Micro Plasma Atomic Emissions Spectrometer)
  • Particle Size Analyser
  • Contact Angle Tester
  • UV Prevention Performance Tester
  • Moisture Management Tester
  • FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) Analysis
  • Hydrostatic head testing
  • Water vapour permeability tester
  • Thermal conductivity tester
  • Digital Flammability tester

The laboratory is now a central facility mainly for M Tech and Ph.D research although undergraduate students are also allowed to use it when required. Outside testing from industry and technical institutions are also carried out here on chargeable basis.
